DNA extraction

Once again, we welcomed Dr Hollis and Dr Holloway from Southampton University to lead Science Club. Our very lively group of pupils were perfect listeners and they told us what they enjoyed when they were at school and how Science became their career.

I would like to thank them personally for giving up their entire day to come and work with Year 6 on their Genetics and Evolution Science module. There is nothing like meeting real scientists so that we can see how what we are learning in the classroom actually applies to the real world. We are incredibly grateful to them for the time they put into the preparation and for sacrificing a day of their time to come and work with us.

Apparently, whilst she thoroughly enjoyed the day, Dr Holloway needs to go and lay down in a dark room for a while...
